Most damage happens off the body: chains knotted in a drawer, pieces scratched by harder neighbours, silver tarnishing in humid air. Storage is where jewelry is kept or lost.
Four rules
- One piece per pouch or compartment. Contact is what scratches — a closed box with dividers beats an open tray.
- Dry and dark. Bathroom humidity is the fastest tarnish accelerator; store silver away from it, ideally with an anti-tarnish strip changed every three months.
- Chains fastened and flat. Clasp a chain before storing it — a closed loop cannot knot. Lay pendants face up.
- Last on, first off. Jewelry goes on after dressing and perfume, and comes off before undressing, showering or sleeping.
Travel
A hard-sided case with slots keeps pieces from shifting. Thread necklaces through a drinking straw and clasp them for the flight — the straw prevents knots in transit. Keep the case in hand luggage, never checked.
Wipe with the soft cloth included with your order. Remove before swimming, showering or applying perfume.
