Sustainability

Recycled silver, lab-grown stones, and the claims we will not make.

Jewellery has a materials problem, and a small label will not solve it. What we can do is be specific about what we actually do, and avoid the vague language that makes everything sound sustainable.

What is true

  • Recycled silver. Most of our silver is refined from industrial and jewellery scrap rather than newly mined ore. Chemically it is identical, and it avoids the mining footprint entirely.
  • Lab-created stones. CZ and moissanite are grown, not dug. No mine, no excavation, and a fraction of the water and land use of a mined stone.
  • Small batches. We cast in short runs against actual demand. Overproduction is the quietest form of waste in fashion, and running out of a design is a better outcome than destroying stock.
  • Recyclable packaging. Card boxes, paper tape, no plastic film. The pouch is cotton and is meant to be kept.
  • No annual collection. We add designs when they are ready, not on a seasonal calendar designed to make last season feel obsolete.

What we cannot claim

We are not carbon neutral. We do not buy offsets to say we are. Our pieces travel by air, which is the most carbon-intensive way to move anything, and the industry’s “certified sustainable” labels vary too much to mean much.

Where we are working

Reducing air freight by consolidating shipments, moving the remaining packaging to uncoated stock, and asking our workshops for documented silver sourcing rather than assurances. We will publish what we find, including where we fall short.
