Jewelry dulls from contact — skin oils, hand cream, dust. Nothing here needs special equipment: a bowl, warm water, mild soap, a soft cloth.
Weekly quick clean
- Mix warm water with one drop of mild dish soap.
- Soak the piece for five minutes — no longer for pieces with glued stones.
- Brush gently behind the setting with a baby toothbrush; the back is where the film collects.
- Rinse in clean water, dry with a lint-free cloth, and lay flat until fully dry before storing.
By material
| Material | Clean with | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Sterling silver | Soap water, silver cloth | Chlorine, bleach, abrasive paste |
| Gold-plated | Damp cloth only, minimal rubbing | Soaking — water shortens plating life |
| Pavé & crystal | Cool soap water, soft brush | Ultrasonic cleaners, hot water |
| Pearls | barely damp cloth after wear | Any soak; perfume applied on the skin nearby |
What to do about tarnish
Tarnish is a surface reaction, not damage — a silver polishing cloth removes the first layer. Deep black tarnish (stored unworn for months) needs a silver bath, following the bottle time exactly, then a rinse and full dry.
Wipe with the soft cloth included with your order. Remove before swimming, showering or applying perfume.
